To get in touch with people
I got a phone call from a teacher. He taught science at my junior high school. I learned a lot from him even I didn't notice at that time. I still remember some episodes or examples in his class.
It is nice to be able to contact with people who spent time with me. However, it is very difficult to keep in touch with.
So it might be amazing that we have been getting in touch with each other for almost 20 years!!
I had a wonderful minutes with him.

An impressed story
Today, I saw a lady on the train on the way home. She was taking care of a young man who was drunk. She found a seat for him because he couldn't stand. I guess everybody thought they were family and she was his mam. But after he got seat, she started talking with people around her and she said she didn't know him and she just found him on another train. She found him drunk and she was worried so she started taking care of him. She said he told her his station was Shinkoiwa at first. So she got off the train with him at the station and then he got sick and through up at the station. So she took care of him at the station. After that, he still tried to take a train so she was wondered and asked him again which station he wanted to go. He said Funabashi. So she got on the train again with him and the train was we were on.
Already we noticed she was nice and very kind parson at that time. However, the story didn't end yet. She started asking around one where they were going. She want to find a person or people who go to Funabashi because her station was before Funabashi so she couldn't go with him. And then a young man, standing next to her, said he was going to get off the train at Funabashi. She looked so happy when she found the man and she thanked him many times and got off the train at her station. Sure the young man woke the drunk man up at Funabashi station and got off the train with him.
I was very impressed!!!!! How wonderful the old lady was!!!
I think she never thought something in return and she was just worried so she took care of him. I think this is the real warmth. In the world we live in, there are so many things going on at a same time. I think many people include me try to ignore many things and when we look back, probably we can add any reason why we ignored a situation or didn't help somebody even if we saw and noticed. We might help a person if he/she was our boss or friend but maybe not if you don't know the person. I want to act like her. If I cannot help everything, there will be something I can do.

Evaluating System
There are rating systems everywhere. Companies have these of course. And schools should obviously have some for grading their students.
However, I sometimes see and hear teachers who didn't have any evaluation standard and rate the student by their feelings. For example, in recent day, a man was doing his experiment so hard everyday and night and finally he could have good results on his research and he got A.. On the other hand, in the same laboratory, a lady came Lab early morning and doing her experiments but she was sleeping most of the day time or go somewhere during the afternoon and then no wonder she couldn't have much results for her research but she got A+. Everybody agree if he got A+ instead of her but it was not happened.
We were thinking what makes the differences between them.
The difference we found was "friendliness". She had more general talk with the teacher than he had. It was only we found what she was greater than he did.
However, is it a rational evaluation?
I think the teacher failed to make a rational and precise evaluation on "To Do Research".
I understand that TEACHER is not a easy job. Teachers are human-beings. They have emotions and have like and dislike. However, still they are teacher for their job. They are human so that they should have a farm evaluation standard. Teachers need to explain the reason why they give the grade and the reason should be accepted by everyone.
I felt so sorry for him because of the grade and the situation. However I want to tell him the grade is just a grade. The most important things are what you learned from your research activities and what you can do right now. There is always a person who is watching you and know the worth what you are doing.
I want to tell him one more thing.
I knew you studied and worked very hard last three years and I recognized your research. Congratulations on your graduation!!

Daifuku
A huge Strawberry was on "Daifuku". I saw this on the way Office and I bought it on impulse. I looked up Daifuku on the dictionary and it said "rice cake stuffed with seasoned bean jam". Sometimes to explain in English is difficult.
Do or Don't
In recent day, I realized one thing from the heart.
To do something has only two situations, doing or not doing.
People say "I am going to do......(something).......", "I plant to do .........(something)..........", "I need to do .....(something)......". I also use these sentences many times. But at the time when people say it, they are not star and not doing yet. To make a plan or to think something is before start.
I always think and feel I need to study more or I need to do something but I realized I didn't do anything what I was thinking and planing. Even if there are reasons, "not doing" is equal to "do nothing". Thinking is not doing yet. Planning is also not doing.
There are only two situations.
I took a look back what I did and what I didn't in my life.
I also think what I will DO for my future again.

Regret and Determination
I really regretted what I did today.
At the office, I was doing a job which I think it was needed and a manager and other people said so too. We had the idea from last September but nobody had not dealing with yet by the early of this year because everybody knew it would take a long time to finish. So I started the job and I finished to ready the data for install a system. However I noticed one problem that the data was getting huge and I cannot just ask SE to update data. So that I asked system manager what I need to do and he said I need to ask my boss to ask an chief for an permission of the update install. However my boss's reaction was negative and by boss said this is not small problem and this update install might effect on many things and my boss cannot take care of so that ask the system manager....
Basically I started this project because I notice we are solving the problem temporarily not radically. Although I knew the number error data will be large, I was sure we should do this.
However I disappointed so much when I saw my boss's reaction. I thought it was negative decision but I had no idea what I needed to do. All day Ｉ didn't assent at all, I felt angry and I was also frustrated because I couldn't do anything.
On the way home, I talked a senior associate what happened today. She understood what I was try to do and she agreed what I wanted to do. She also said I should finish this project. I was thinking what I did today and what I can do next time. I think still I can do something . Even if the problem that we have is small, a temporary solution is not solving a the problem.
I always care my position and I am not try to say too much even if I have ideas and opinions. So I don't push hard for my idea even if I am sure the ides is correct. However, I noticed sometimes I should say and I should do what I think the right.
Now I think I have something I can do more before stop or give up.
I will try something next work day!!!!!

International symposium on IDPs
I went to Yokohama RIKEN to attend the
symposium. Intrinsically Disordered Proteins (IDPs) are very interested targets
for protein research in recent days. Some of the speakers came from abroad and every talk was new for me! When I attend a symposium or an academic meeting, I always feel I should learn more about before attending. I understand I only know and study a few things in this world so I want to know, watch and learn more. To lean never ends!!

My mam sent me vegetables and apples!!! In
these vegetables, there was a cute small pumpkin that my mam called
"Boccyan kabocya (坊ちゃんかぼちゃ)" (I
don't know English name).
She told me how to cook and store for the most
of the vegetables.

Viral gastroenteritis
I have been sick from midnight so I absented a seminar at school and went to a docter's office today. Diagnosis was viral gastroenteritis. I was put on an IV too.
I hope these medications work quickly!!!!

One year has passed quickly in recent days and a new year, 2013 just starts. I had wonderful time last year 2012. I met many people and many friends last year. Each one of meetings was a wonderful moment in my life because I knew I am able to meet only a few people in the world in my life. I would like to thank everything happened to me and everyone I met in my life. I had wonderful time with you and I am going to have a great time with you more.
I hope the year 2013 will be a wonderful year for every one!!!!
